Our jerky is 100% grass-fed and grass-finished using high quality marinade ingredients, no unnatural preservatives, and packaged in eco-friendly bags. At Windward, we specialize in worldly flavors and stories. Our flavors began in the Hawaiian islands and quickly expanded around the globe, from mediterranean-inspired peppered jerky to sweet chili featuring stout beer. Take a tour of different flavors and cultures, and galvanize your tastebuds.
I’m a jerky snob. Very very very picky about my beef jerky. BUT this is my new favorite jerky. I’m obsessed. Perfect texture, great flavor. Sweet and spicy.
Island Arc has become my favorite snack! The flavor is perfect, not too spicy, not too mild. I try to not eat an entire bag in less than 15 minutes, but I just can't help it.
I have always loved this flavor, spicy with a hint of sweetness. However, I think the texture is even better now, just a tad more moist. Perfect!
The GAIA Peppered Garlic Jerky is by far my favorite. I love this Jerky for when I'm hiking, biking, kayaking, snowshoeing or fly-fishing! Can't wait for the Stout flavored Jerky.
My favorite of the 3 types. Great flavor and a great balance of texture that wasn't too dry or brittle. Definitely will order again and eager for new flavors!
Natural Resources: The interior layer is made from 100% renewable plant-based resources like sugar cane.
Waste Reduction: The new bags can help reduce waste as 60% of each bag can break down naturally in a relatively short period of time when left in the correct composting environment.
Climate Change: The plant-based components that make up our new packaging can absorb greenhouse gases through natural plant respiration prior to use in packaging.
MADE WITH 100% GRASS-FED, GRASS-FINISHED BEEF
Grass-fed beef is raised on open pastures. These cows are never confined to feed-lots.
Grass-fed beef is naturally lower in total fat, and doesn't contain any antibiotics or growth hormones.
Grass-fed beef is higher in Omega-3 fatty acids, which is crucial to a healthy diet and can reduce the risk of many diseases such as heart disease.
Generally speaking, grass-fed beef is cleaner and healthier than conventional corn-fed beef.

With our new eco-friendly packaging finished and a new batch of jerky produced, we updated our site and relaunched our Crossroads jerky.
Packaging Is In And Jerky Produced
In December, our new eco-friendly packaging was finally in hand and we were able to produce our jerky after a long awaited pause. The wait was worth it to make our brand more sustainable.
Kickstarter 130% Funded
We finished our Kickstarter campaign with 233 backers and were 130% funded! A couple weeks later we finalized and ordered our new eco-friendly packaging.
We launched our Kickstarter campaign on September 10, 2019 and became 40% funded within the first two days!
Kickstarter Planning Begins
To help fund and marketing our new eco-friendly packaging, we decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign. The planning was a long process and we wanted to make the best possible campaign.
Eco-Friendly Bag Tests Finished
We finished our sustainable packaging tests and they were a success! Our jerky lasted an entire year with no issues. Afterwards we did a few more shorter term tests for texture.
We Decided To Pause
In January of 2019 we made the decision to pause production of our jerky to finish our eco-friendly packaging test. We didn't want to order more unsustainable bags.
Eco-Friendly Bag Tests Started
In May of this year we realized our ultimate goal was sustainable packaging. So through our manufacturer we started testing its viability with our jerky. We needed jerky to last one year in the bags.
Sold Into 35 States
By March of our second year we had sold into 35 states from our website!
Crossroads & New Bags Launched
On our one-year anniversary we updated our packaging to its second version and launched the first batch of our Crossroads Sweet Chili Stout jerky.
Sold Into 25 States
By August of 2017 we had sold into 25 states through our website!
Windward Jerky Launched
In January 2017, we launched the first version of our e-commerce website with our three original flavors - Alaka'i, Island Arc, and Gaia.
